In 1986, behind the walls of the Abingdon Boys Only Public School in England, a talented group of teens started a band called “On A Friday”. A few years later, in 1991, ‘On a Friday’ became ‘Radiohead’ after signing with EMI. Although their debut album, ‘Pablo Honey’, was not a success, one of their earlier singles called ‘Creep’ gained international recognition and triggered the success of this group. Inspired and motivated by the success of ‘Creep’, Radiohead aimed at producing a smash hit second album. Hits such as "Fake Plastic Trees", "Just", and "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" increased their popularity in the UK.
The band went on to
record the album, ‘OK COMPUTER’. This album was indeed a powerful one
as they used electronic rock and unique textures to create a sound that
would connect with their audience, causing their fan support to grow
and strengthen. Thom Yorke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano,
electronics), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, other instruments), Ed
O'Brien (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass guitar,
synthesisers) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion), all were surprised
at the increased popularity of the band.
Despite the excitement stirred up
from this album, the members of Radiohead still fought to find a more
unique and self-inspired sound. The release of their more diverse sound
marked the bands greatest success. The album, ‘Kid A’, debuted at
number one in the United States and other countries. It also earned the
band a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album. They went on to receive
the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, for their 2003 album “Hail
to the Thief”. Their most recent album ‘Rainbows’ followed the trend of
chart topping, award winning productions. A collaboration of diverse
rock is an experience one can not miss. At trycheaptickets.com the
